Councilman George W. Ballou

Councilman George W. Ballou is in his fourth 4-year term of office on the Morehead City Council. He was initially sworn into office in December 2005, and his current term will end in December of 2021.  Prior to serving as a Councilman, he served on the Morehead City Planning Board for four years, two as Chairman. Councilman Ballou is the co-owner of Ballou and Sons, Inc. and Mayberry Storage Rentals as well as the trustee of Ballou Mobile Home Park in Morehead City. Councilman Ballou currently serves on numerous civic organizations.


Councilman William F. “Bill” Taylor

Councilman Taylor is in his second 4-year term of office having been sworn into office in December 2011.  His term of office will expire in December 2019.  He currently serves as the Mayor Pro Tempore.  Councilman Taylor is retired after a career of 31 years as a General Manager with General Telephone [GTE, now Verizon].  He is a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Army Reserve after a career spanning 28 years.  He also retired from Carteret County as the Program Coordinator for the Carteret Community Service/Restitution Program working with at risk youth.   E-Mail:

Councilwoman Keri McCann is in her first 4-year term on the Morehead City Council. More information to come shortly.


Councilman Harvey N. Walker

Councilman Walker is in his second 4-year term of office having been sworn into office in December 2011.  His current term will expire in December 2019.  Councilman Walker is the owner of Coastal Carolina Industries.   In 2019 Mr. Walker formed a new transportation company called Paladin by Request.

Councilwoman Diane Warrender

Councilwoman Warrender was sworn into office in December of 2011.  She is currently in her second four-year term, expiring in December of 2019. Warrender is a resident of the “Promise Land” in Morehead City.  She is retired from her position as Program Director for the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce.  Councilwoman Warrender also owned and operated two small businesses in Carteret County.  She is presently a member of the Morehead City Noon Rotary and the Carteret County Arts Council.  Warrender can be contacted at:
