The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body composed of representatives from Morehead City and its extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) who are given certain powers under and relative to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). The primary responsibility of the Board of Adjustment is to review requests for Special-Use permits and Variance petitions as well as to hear various appeals.
In order for a petition or permit to be granted, four out of five members must vote in favor of the applicant’s request.
The Board of Adjustment meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building Auditorium located at 202 South 8th Street, 2nd Floor.
