Free Fitness Orientation

Free Fitness Orientations are offered on the first Tuesday of the month from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. The orientation will be held at the Morehead City Parks & Recreation Center located at 1600 Fisher Street.  This orientation is for those who are new to working out, or those who would like to know more about the fitness machines and programs offered.  Orientation will be led by Victoria Ward.  Questions: Please contact Morehead City Parks and Recreation; 252-726-5083, ext 1 or email Victoria.Ward@moreheadcitync.org

Barre Fitness

  The Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department will now be offering a fitness class called Barre Fit. This program is offered Tuesdays at 5:30 PM as well as Thursdays at 10:00AM and 5:30 PM. The program costs $20 for 4 classes a month (one class per week).  If you don’t wish to sign up for the program, you can pay a $10 daily drop-in fee. Class-goers need to bring water, yoga mat or towel is optional. This class is a hybrid of Yoga, Pilates, and Ballet Flexibility and will consist of stretching/strengthening of all major muscle groups, creating lean and long muscles without bulk, and strengthening abdominal and back muscles improving balance and back pain. Adult Tap Dance Class

Adult Tap Dance Classes are offered on Tuesdays from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at a cost of $10.00 per class. All classes are held at the Morehead City Recreation Center, 1600 Fisher Street. Line Dance Class

Line Dance Classes are offered on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at a cost of $3.00 per class. All classes are held at the Morehead City Recreation Center, 1600 Fisher Street.  Line dance lessons are choreographed dance to all types of music – it’s fun and dancing is good for the brain because it is social, mental, and physical.  Whether new or familiar with dance, you will find “line dance” fun and challenging, maybe even addictive.  Come move and laugh with us!  The Monday class is taught by Kathy Johnson, who can be reached at 772-538-8892. Adult Hip-Hop Classes

Are you looking for a fun way to stay active and burn hundreds of calories?  Have you considered taking an adult dance class?  Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring an adult hip hop class that will be held on Tuesdays at 6:45pm-7:45pm beginning October 2018. The class will be for adults 18 and older and taught by experienced teacher, Amber Spickett.  There is a $10 drop-in fee.  For more information, please contact Victoria Ward at the Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department, 726-5083.  

Total Body Workout

Total Body Workout Classes are offered at the Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at a cost of $6.00 per class. Community Yoga

Join Jenn Melton every Monday, 5:30-6:30 pm, for a Community Yoga practice, connecting movement with the breath. She will you lead you through a opening meditation followed by a series of standing, seated, and balance postures. Jenn ends each practice with a guided relaxation to allow you to find a restorative Savasana. This class is suitable for all levels, from beginners to regular practitioners. Jenn offers modifications and variations for each posture to allow students to explore their bodies and find their appropriate edge. All classes will be held at the Morehead City Parks & Recreation Center located at 1600 Fisher Street.

Retro Yoga

Retro Yoga classes are offered on Tuesdays 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. at a cost of $8.00 per class. All classes will be held at the Morehead City Parks & Recreation Center located at 1600 Fisher Street.

This class is for those who want to get in touch with their bodies. Retro yoga is yoga for your body type. Classes are taught by instructor Jean Sarnacki.

Kids Dance Fall 2018

We are offering dance for 4-6 year olds at Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department.  This is a great way to get your child out of the house for 30 minutes each week.  Dance teaches expression, discipline, confidence and flexibility.  This is a fun and engaging social activity to try.  Ballet shoes optional.  The classes will be offered on Tuesdays from 4:00-4:30 PM and 4:45-5:15 PM.  Classes run from Tuesday October  2nd 2018 through November 6th, 2018.  Please register by Friday, September 31st online or at the Morehead City Recreation Center.  Please contact Victoria Ward for more information at 252-726-5083 ext. 1 or email:  victoria.ward@moreheadcitync.org
