Down East Folk Arts Society – 2019 Winter Concert Series @ History Museum of Carteret County
Mar 14 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

The Down East Folk Arts Society will once again bring World Class Singer/Songwriters to the Crystal Coast with a 2019 Winter Concert Series. All concerts will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Performers, concert dates, and locations are as follows:
Thursday, March 14th / Becky Warren @ History Museum of Carteret County | 7pm – 8:30pm
Come listen to acclaimed Singer/Songwriter Becky Warren singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Nashville, Tennessee. She has won both the Merlefest Songwriting Contest and the Kerrville New Folk Competition.  She formerly performed with the Boston-based alternative country band the Great Unknowns as their front-woman, beginning in 2003. In 2016, she released her solo debut album, War Surplus, a concept album that follows a fictional couple, Scott, and his girlfriend-turned-wife, June. Warren performs all of the album’s songs from either Scott’s or June’s perspective. The album is based on Warren’s own life, as she married a soldier in 2005 who was deployed to fight in the Iraq War soon afterward. When he returned, he had developed post traumatic stress disorder. Four years after they married, Warren and her husband divorced. Warren spent four year writing the songs on War Surplus.

Friday, March 15th, St. Francis By The Sea, 920 Salter Path Road, Salter Path.

Admission to the concerts is free, although organizers will “pass the hat” among attendees for donations for our performers. Make note of these dates and check out the excellent performers online. Then come join us as we build community through music! All are welcome! If you have questions, contact Charlie McCurry at 336-970-3402.
