BARRE FITNESS

There will be NO BARRE CLASS IN MAY.  Classes will resume June 12th-14th.  The Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department will now be offering a fitness class called Barre Fit. This program is offered Tuesdays at 5:30 PM as well as Thursdays at 10:00AM and 5:30 PM. The program costs $20 for 4 classes a month (one class per week).  If you don’t wish to sign up for the program, you can pay a $10 daily drop-in fee. Class-goers need to bring water, yoga mat or towel is optional. This class is a hybrid of Yoga, Pilates, and Ballet Flexibility and will consist of stretching/strengthening of all major muscle groups, creating lean and long muscles without bulk, and strengthening abdominal and back muscles improving balance and back pain. Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department is now offering recreational, open play corn-hole.  Corn-hole will take place on Wednesday evenings beginning March 28th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department (1600 Fisher Street, Morehead City, NC, 28557). Down East Folk Arts Society presents Tom Kimmel in MHC | 7pm – 8:30pm
The Down East Folk Arts Society will once again bring World Class Singer/Songwriters to the Crystal Coast with a 2019 Winter Concert Series beginning in January and running through March. Singer, songwriter, entertainer, poet and teacher, Tom Kimmel is all of these things and more. Since 1980 dozens of Tom’s compositions have been recorded by a host of major artists, including Linda Ronstadt, Johnny Cash, Joe Cocker and Randy Travis. They’ve been featured in films from Twins to Serendipity  and   Runaway Bride, and in television shows from Miami Vice to Touched By An Angel. Once an eclectic artist in his own right, he has released seven solo albums, published a book of poems and led songwriting workshops and classes across the US and in Europe. Four guest clam chowder cooks will compete at the Harvey W. Smith Watercraft Center. Participants enjoy a tasting-sized portion of each of the four chowders and then vote for their favorite. In addition to clam chowder, the event will host a cornbread taste-off.
