Youth Basketball 2021-2022


In cooperation with the Carteret County Public School System announcement to pivot to virtual learning next Tuesday and Wednesday, Morehead City Parks and Recreation is pausing our youth basketball season effective today. We will resume our normal schedule next Thursday Jan 20th. No decision has been made at this time regarding rescheduling.

Again - Games and practice are canceled starting today until next Wednesday, January 19th.  Schedule will resume as normal on Thursday Jan 20th unless otherwise posted.


This youth league is co-sponsored by the Carteret County and Morehead City Parks and Recreation Departments. Teams will practice at the Morehead City Recreation Center or Morehead City Middle School. Games will be played at these gyms and other county gym facilities. 

  • Registration: September 27th – November 8th, M-F, 8AM-8PM or online
  • Registration fee: $50.00
  • Age Divisions: 8-14 
  • Cut-off for age groups — January 1
  • Practices Begin — November 29th
  • Games — January and February
  • Team basketball jerseys are included in the registration fee.
  • Volunteer coaches are needed for the program.
  • Skills Assessment will be held November 9th.

Open Basketball for Persons with Disabilities

Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer basketball on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00pm at the Morehead City Parks and Recreation Center for anyone with disabilities.  This is open to all ages with a focus on learning basic basketball skills while doing fun drills and light conditioning. Differently Abled Basketball (8.5 x 11 in)

Glowvibe Golf Tournament November 2021:

Morehead City Parks and Recreation will be partnering with Brandywine Bay Golf Course and Glowvibe Golf to host a glow-in-the-dark golf tournament on November 13th!  All proceeds will be used to benefit the Morehead City Parks and Recreation Scholarship Foundation. Scholarship funds will be used to help families in need help their child to participate in youth sports and recreation programs through Morehead City Recreation.  This tournament is a 9-hole, 4-person scramble. Cost is $350 per team. Pre-registration is required and limited to 13 teams. Food is included and sponsored by Bogue Sound Financial. Sponsorships are also available.

Glowvibe golf fall 2021


Fall Youth Tennis League

Philosophy: The league will offer an exciting tennis experience with an emphasis on fun, skill development, tactics and competition.  Concentration will be placed on establishing basic skills such as forehand, backhand, net play and building upon these skills through staff demonstration and instruction.  The league will emphasize technique tactics in an intense training environment.  The camp will be divided by age so the content of the league as well as the intensity will be structured to meet the varying needs of the different participants.  All participants should wear comfortable clothing for tennis, tennis racquet (if possible) and a water bottle.

To compete in this league, we ask that you have completed a tennis camp with us in the past.

Youth Beach Volleyball League 2021:

When: September 6th-October 15th

Registration: August 1st- August 27th

Where: Atlantic Beach Circle Courts

Ages-: 9-14

Morehead City Parks and Recreation is excited to offer an outdoor youth volleyball league. Philosophy: This coed league will feature a fun experience with Volleyball for all with an emphasis on competition and skill building. Individual registration is available thru the Parks and Recreation website or in person at the Parks and Recreation Center.   Games will be Monday and Wednesday from 5-7PM at the Atlantic Beach Circle Courts.  Click here to register.

Open Play Basketball

Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department offers Open-Play Basketball on Monday and Fridays from 5:30-7:30pm.  All participants must purchase an annual pass.  Click here for more information.
