CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

The TOWN OF MOREHEAD CITY has a vacancy for a CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER in our Planning & Inspections Department. Position performs a variety of difficult technical work to include interpreting, enforcing City zoning, housing, land use, flood zone codes/ordinances; detects/investigates code violations; inspects new construction; issues and processes various permits/applications; creates maps using GIS software.  Requires working in internal and external environments.  High school diploma or GED with coursework in planning, geography, GIS or related field and experience in code enforcement and plan review work or equivalent combination. FIREFIGHTER/EMT

The TOWN OF MOREHEAD CITY has three vacancies for full-time FIREFIGHTER/EMT.  Firefighter/Paramedic or Firefighter/Advanced-EMT is preferred, but not required. Applicants may be required to obtain these medical certifications at a later time.  Duties include responding to emergency calls; suppressing fires; providing basic and advanced life support within emergency medical services; handling hazardous materials; operating and maintaining department vehicles and equipment; preparing and maintaining detailed reports.  Position requires knowledge of the principles and techniques of emergency medical care, automobile extrication, emergency transportation; fire suppression methods and techniques; proper handling of hazardous materials.  Must possess high school diploma or GED.  Firefighter Certification, EMT, Technical Rescue and HAZMAT certifications required.  Possession of a valid, unrestricted NC driver’s license required.  Background/drug test required. Applicants must be able to obtain NFPA 1582 required physical clearance.

Hiring salary for Firefighter/EMT- $40,851.11 (based on 2912 annual hours at $14.03 per hour). 

Hiring salary for Firefighter/Advanced EMT- $47,273.11 (based on 2912 annual hours at $16.23 per hour).   

Hiring salary for Firefighter/EMT-Paramedic $49,651.64 (based on 2912 annual hours at $17.05 per hour).

The next test will be administered October 31, 2017 at 4034 Arendell Street (Fire Station 2) Morehead City NC at 0900 hrs. Candidates that have taken and passed the physical agility test this calendar year will not be required to re-take the test.

CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERKS

The TOWN OF MOREHEAD CITY has a vacancy for TWO (2) full-time CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERKS in the Billing & Collections Department to perform basic to intermediate clerical and collections work involving extensive and exceptional communication skills with heavy customer interaction, both by phone and in person, requiring exceptional telephone skills and ability to get along well with citizens,  customers and staff.  Position requires exceptional multitasking skills; strong customer-service orientation and problem-solving skills; knowledge of bookkeeping terminology and methods; ability to perform standard office procedures; general knowledge of utility services to include connection and termination procedures, billing, collections and adjustments; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions, follow established and detailed work procedures, post accounts, and perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.  Must be a team player.  Strong keyboarding skills; ability to use a variety of office equipment, specifically a 10-key calculator and computer programs. Typical work schedule: 8:00-5:00 Monday-Friday; occasional overtime as needed.  High school diploma or GED with coursework in bookkeeping and general office work; extensive experience in customer service.  NC driver’s license/background test required.  Keyboarding and 10-key calculator test administered to final candidates. UTILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

The TOWN OF MOREHEAD CITY has a vacancy for a full-time UTILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN in the Water/Sewer Department. Position performs intermediate skilled work in the installation, repair/maintenance of water/sewer lines.  Ability to lift up to 25# regularly and 50# frequently; wearing a respirator and other specialized equipment may be required; working in internal and external environmental conditions. On-call and rotating weekend hours required. High school diploma or GED with some experience in water/sewer lines. Possession of or ability to obtain C-Well Certification and CDL Class B (tank endorsement) NC Driver’s License.  Background/drug test required. Hiring salary: $29,179 depending on qualifications.  Excellent benefits. SEASONAL WORKERS

The TOWN OF MOREHEAD CITY is now hiring for SEASONAL workers in the following positions:  Building & Grounds Worker (3), Street Maintenance Worker (2), Solid Waste Operator (1), Parks (1).  High school diploma or GED.
