Explore Rachel Carson Reserve @ NC Maritime Museum

Discover the various plants and animals of the Rachel Carson Reserve. A guided hike will take you through the different habitats found on Town Marsh and Bird Shoal.  Not suitable for children under 12.  Advance reservations required.

American Red Cross Blood Drive @ Otway Fire and Rescue

The American Red Cross continues to have an emergency need for blood donors of all blood types to save lives. Please let us count on you! Walk ins are accepted but we do encourage an appointment.

Rodney Kemp will discuss the history of menhaden fishery with author Steve Goodwin who will also autograph his book on this subject, Beyond the Crow’s Nest.  Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. and the program starts at noon.  Call for reservations.

11th Annual Flounder Surf Fishing Tournament

2017 Flounder Fishing tournament kicks off the surf-fishing and beach driving season that starts September 15th.  The tournament runs from 8:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16th until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30th.  The Reel Outdoors will be providing prizes for the top three anglers.  For more information visit www.emeraldisle-nc.org

Not only will participants visit animal holding areas, labs and food preparation areas, but they’ll get a chance to help feed the fish in Living Shipwreck, the largest habitat at the aquarium.  Ages 5 and up.
